Description
IRPET (regional institute for economic planning in Tuscany) was founded in 1968 with responsibility for carrying out preliminary studies for the institution of the regional administration. In 1974, it became a public body.
It conducts research activity on the region’s socio-economic and territorial structure and its transformations, trends and relative analytical tools. The aim of the activities ranges from policy planning to programme evaluation. Irpet relates mainly to regional institutions but in addition can carry out other study, research and consultancy activities upon request from public and private bodies; it can build relations with other research bodies, study offices, specialised institutes, university
IRPET publishes the information and results of its studies under different series titles: note on short- term analyses; research reports; papers on Italian and international reviews.
IRPET also leads training activities with the promotion of internship and scholarship programs.
Its activity is actually organized in 5 field of analysis: macroeconomics, local development; welfare and labour market, public economy and territory, energy and sustainability. Main research topics are: education, public investment, transport, agriculture, tourism, culture, public finance, taxation, industrial policies, planning.
The institute activity makes extensive use of an original modelling system based on Input/output and macroeconomic models, micro-simulation and social accountability matrix, spatial econometrics and transport models. It has developed specific skills in the fields of program evaluation methods.
