Description
The Institute was founded in 1971, on the initiative of Massimo Severo Giannini, following on the establishment of the ordinary Regions, with the aims of acting as a reference point for the studies on regionalism. Issirfa is grounded on a multidisciplinary approach, including public law, public economics and regional finance, and political sciences. The Institute acts also a documentation center thanks to its historic library. The main research fields include: constitutional and administrative models of regionalism in Italy and in other countries; the distribution of functions and forms of inter-connection between the State, the regions and local authorities; the regions and legislative provisions of the European Union; multidisciplinary analysis of regional policies; regional finance; fiscal federalism; multi-level governance; socio-economic dualism in the Italian regions.
