Bridging Small Area Estimation and Spatial Econometrics for
Mapping Health and Lifestyle Inequalities

This work in progress, developed within the Roberto Camagni Scholarship funded by AISRe and hosted at Brunel University London, under the supervision of Prof. Francesco Moscone, explores methodological and empirical issues in the analysis of territorial inequalities in lifestyles and health in Italy. The project focuses on the use of small area estimates derived from survey data and on the challenges that arise when these indicators are employed in spatial econometric analyses. More broadly, the research aims to contribute to the development of robust approaches for studying local health disparities and their territorial determinants, with potential implications for place-based policies and the interpretation of spatial patterns in socio-economic and health-related outcomes.
